The Onslow County Partnership for Children (OCPC) is seeking a full-time Pre-K Training & Technical Assistance (T/TA) Specialist. The Onslow County Partnership for Children is a private non-profit agency that develops and advocates for programs that optimize children’s emotional, intellectual and physical readiness for school.
The Pre-K T/TA Specialist works to support site administrators and teaching staff in the implementation of intentional teaching practices in an inclusive classroom environment in accordance to the NC Pre-K Program Requirements and Guidance. Technical assistance and training is provided using the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development (NCFELD) and Creative Curriculum to ensure the classroom environment and learning opportunities are comprehensive, developmentally appropriate, based on formative assessment, and meet the individual needs of all children. In addition, support is provided to NC Pre-K Site Administrators and teaching staff during the NC teacher licensure process through the Early Education Support, Licensure and Professional Development (EESLPD). The ideal candidate has a fundamental knowledge of child development, North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards, the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R), and the North Carolina Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations to ensure program compliance. Knowledge of other evidence-based assessment tools is also beneficial in order to comprehensively measure program quality. A commitment to ongoing professional development is expected to increase knowledge of research and development that supports program requirements and best practices.
The Pre-K T/TA Specialist must be able to provide technical assistance to early education professionals to improve program quality, maintain facility conditions and provide training to early educators that meet their individual and program’s professional development goals. Through ongoing coaching, modeling, and consultation the Pre-K T/TA Specialist ensures that skills and knowledge acquired are implemented and sustained to empower professional and program development. The Pre-K T/TA Specialist must have the ability to: act as a liaison between the Partnership and NC Pre-K Sites. This will include collaboration with the early care and education community, local, state and national professional organizations, Onslow County Schools, and community stakeholders.
The Pre-K Training and Technical Assistance Specialist position has a minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field, and three to five years of early education classroom experience. Preference is given to individuals with a valid NC BK license. The Pre-K T/TA Specialist should be able to communicate and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, have organizational skills, work independently, and effective written and oral skills plus a proficiency in Microsoft Office software. A valid driver’s license is required and some travel outside the county may be required of this position.
