This workshop will give particpants a better understanding of what is defined as a disability, the use of "Person First Language", identify barriers and benefits of inclusion, gain knowledge of the legal, moral, and ethical ssues as well as an understanding of the concept that inclusion is a process and not a program.

Improving Your FCCERS-R Score in Interactions

Participants will learn key components of interactions based on the FCCERS-R Environmental Ratings Scales including supervision of play and learning, provider-child interaction, dicipline and interaction among children.  Participants will take an in-depth look at these subscales and will be encouraged to share ideas. This training is designed for Family Child Care providers.

Lisa Eaffaldan, NCSW, will present information on how to help children and caregivers deal with feelings associated with griefand loss. This workshop will include techniques on how to help children cope with deployment of a loved one, adjust to a new enviromentm and how to help the bounce back. Caregivers will learn techniques on how to deal with their own feelings.

Fire Safety Training

Cost $5.00

An annual fire inspection is required of every child care program.  The training will address general precasutions, emergecy planning, servicefeatures and systems, fire rated construction and protection, interior decorations, means of egress, and use of portable fire extinguishers. This training will be taught by an Onslow County Fire Inspector.

Participants will learn strategies to improve safe infant sleep environments and help reduce the risk of sudden infant death.  This class meets NC state requirements for SIDS training of child care providers.  Participants will receive iinformation about complying with NC rules and regulations designed to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care.

Increasing Quality with the ITERS

The ITERS-R is a wonderful resource tool to use in your classroom to help increase the quality of care.  Particpants will examine the Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scale, discussiong indicators in detail.  Emphasis will be placed on ways to use the scale to improve early learning environments.  Join Marti Brown, Regional I/T Specialist and receive great resources that will help you improve the quality in your Infant, Toddler and Two year old classroom.
